Back in April, we had the rare chance to step inside the legendary Goose Island Barrel House and take part in one of the most unforgettable beer experiences of our lives: selecting our very own Bourbon County Brand Stout Single Barrel.
Patrick, Julie, and Erin made the trek to Chicago to taste through six uniquely-aged Bourbon County barrels. Each barrel had its own personality, shaped by time, wood, and the spirit that came before it. It wasn’t an easy choice - especially between our final two contenders - but one stole our hearts (and palates): a barrel that previously held 16-year-old Buffalo Trace Weller bourbon and aged our BCS pick for 28 months.
This barrel delivered exactly what we wanted: rich brownie batter, velvety chocolate, a hint of almond, and a deep vanilla backbone. Complex, bold, and uniquely ours.
Huge thanks to the Goose Island team for making this entire experience one for the books. We’re especially grateful to:
- Mike Siegel, Senior Innovation Manager, who gave us a behind-the-scenes tour of the barrel house and walked us through the history of the program
- John Zadlo, Senior Brand Manager, who guided us through the full tasting experience
- Brendan Bank, our incredible Business Development Manager, who helped coordinate this whole journey and always keeps us looped in on all things Goose Island
The Release

We’re celebrating with a launch party on Friday, July 11 starting at 3pm. This is our first BCS Single Barrel and it tells a story that only this one barrel could. We can't wait to share it with you.
